aspect of our operations. We recently hosted our inaugural Safety Stand Down event, bringing together aviation professionals from various disciplines to discuss, learn, and reinforce our commitment to flight safety.

With the theme “Learning, Communication, Accountability: Building Our Safety Culture,” our event aimed to delve into the intricacies of flight preparation, execution, and assessment. From the pre-flight checklist to the final landing, every stage of flight presents unique challenges and considerations. Through panel discussions, presentations, and guest speakers, we explored techniques, best practices, and professional insights to enhance safety measures across the board.

One of the highlights of our event was the opportunity to host distinguished speakers, each bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the table. We were honored to have Captain Robert “Hoot” Gibson among our lineup. With an impressive resume that includes five missions aboard the Space Shuttles, Captain Gibson shared invaluable insights into aviation and space exploration, emphasizing the importance of communication and teamwork in mitigating risks.

Another standout presentation came from Clarke “Otter” McNeace, Executive Vice-President of Compliance & Customer Experience at Aviation Performance Solutions (APS). McNeace’s discussion on Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I) shed light on a critical aspect of aviation safety, emphasizing the role of comprehensive Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) in addressing this common cause of fatalities.

Additionally, Peter Basile, a Senior Air Safety Investigator with Textron Aviation, provided a detailed analysis of a Cessna Citation Latitude accident investigation. By dissecting the sequence of events leading to the accident, Basile offered valuable insights and takeaways to enhance flying safety.

The event received positive feedback from attendees and received comments such as; “This was great! Excellent information…stuff I can apply to what I do every day. Great to get everyone together and focus on Safety. Speakers were outstanding, their messages were interesting and applicable.”

Our President, Mark Rogers was in attendance and noted the event’s exceptional execution and value. As we reflect on the success of our first Safety Stand Down, we’re already looking ahead to future editions. While this may have been our inaugural event, we’re committed to making it a recurring fixture on our calendar, alternating with other industry-leading safety initiatives.

At Lone Mountain Aircraft, our dedication to safety extends beyond words; it’s a tangible commitment reflected in every aspect of our business.
